Wild Estate is your ultimate island destination for fine wine, great beer and good honest food. With a cool and relaxed atmosphere that combines classic Kiwi backyard with luxury vineyard, just a 35 minute ferry from downtown Tāmaki Makaurau. We’ve got a little something for everyone with spaces, activities and a menu to suit your vibe and pace. Wild Estate is also our boutique vineyard, where our grapes are grown on the highest quality vines from around the world, carefully tended by expert hands and vinified by award-winning winemakers. The result is a selection of stunning wines, each bringing a unique sense of place.
Kids are kept entertained in our children’s playground, sandpit and giant trampoline while you can rest a little over a hand crafted, thirst quenching beer, non-alcoholic ginger beer or a nicely chilled rose! There's always plenty to do to keep them entertained, and kids lunch boxes to enjoy beside the playground too. And the best part is, as our venue is open plan, you can see them from your table!
2. The Heke
Four acres of beautiful gardens surround The 'HEKE Kitchen, a relaxed place for groups, and a family & dog friendly restaurant where our chefs prepare your food over glowing wood fires. Alongside this we have a spectacular new brewery, distillery and tasting room.
The 'HEKE is the cellar door and brand home of Waiheke Whisky & Waiheke Brewing Co. our craft distillery and craft brewery on Waiheke Island.
Your kids are not going to want to leave! Between us we have 8 children so we know what we are doing. We have a giant inflatable Jumping Pillow, the only one on Waiheke Island. We also have a fleet of vintage and new Tonka trucks, a super-cute outdoor play kitchen for pretend adventures. We have a colouring competition, ice blocks and a Kids Menu too. Enjoy a drink while they are happy.
3. Passage Rock
Surrounded by our Syrah vines, our beautiful café is the perfect setting to come and relax. You’ll enjoy stunning views and award-winning wines which have been skillfully matched with each dish, or you can select your own wines to share. We have lawn games to entertain all ages and we encourage you to bring your whole family and spend the day in the sun with us. We are also dog-friendly for well-behaved canines.
A winery that caters well for families by providing a trampoline, big grassy area and outdoor toys for the kids to enjoy while the adults can sample some wine in peace!
4. Man O War
Situated at Man O' War Bay, at the eastern end of Waiheke Island, these vineyards are planted on numerous small sites on the 5,000-acre (20 km2) Man o'War farm.
Begin your visit with an adventurous drive along a gravel road, encompassing wide landscape views from the tops of hills, to lush, subtropical forests to reach our tasting room.
Settle in with a tapas platter and a glass of Man O' War's Valhalla Chardonnay at Waiheke's only beachfront tasting room. If the weather is good, go for a swim in beautiful Man O' War Bay.
A family friendly premise with activities for the kids (and adults) such as lawn cricket, petanque, skittles and swingball. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead at all times.
